The Trauma Program at The Koch Center is an innovative program that was developed based on third-wave, empirically supported treatment interventions. Recent research shows that memory of trauma is encoded in the body and that this demands a radical shift in therapeutic approaches. Treatment must involve helping people practice skills to deal with hyperarousal and triggers, to use skills to regulate their emotions, and to become reacquainted with their body and feelings.
The Koch Center’s Trauma Program is a one-night per week group-based outpatient program that incorporates Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills (DBT) and the Seeking Safety Trauma Protocol. It meets on Tuesdays from 6-8:30pm virtually.
Schedule:
Tuesdays:
6:00pm – 7:30pm DBT Skills Group
7:30pm – 8:30pm Seeking Safety Trauma Group
Patients in our Trauma Program may continue with their outside individual therapists and other treatment providers. This program is beneficial for patients who are dealing with trauma or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), either single- or multiple-incident or developmental traumas, and need added support throughout the week.
